FMP-Sponsored Addiction Recovery Program for U.S. Veterans at Siam Rehab
What is the Foreign Medical Program (FMP)?
The FMP program offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides healthcare coverage for veterans with service-connected disabilities while they reside outside the United States. It ensures that veterans continue to receive care related to their service-connected conditions, even while living abroad.
What Does FMP Cover?
FMP covers healthcare services, medications, and supplies related to your service-connected disabilities. This includes:
- Doctor visits, hospital care, surgeries, and outpatient treatment
- Prescription medications
- Durable medical equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, oxygen tanks)
- Physical therapy, prosthetics, and other necessary treatments
It’s important to note that FMP only covers treatments directly related to your service-connected conditions. Non-service-connected conditions are not covered under this program.

No Upfront Costs for Covered Conditions
If your condition qualifies under the Foreign Medical Program (FMP), Siam Rehab handles billing directly with the VA, so you do not need to pay upfront or deal with reimbursement paperwork. There are no hidden costs or surprise charges for covered services.
The standard treatment program typically lasts three to 6 months and includes detox, therapy, and ongoing clinical support related to your service-connected condition.
VA-Aligned Care with Proven Clinical Experience
Siam Rehab works directly with the Foreign Medical Program (FMP) and follows VA requirements for covered treatment and documentation. Our clinical team has more than 20 years of experience treating complex substance use disorders, trauma-related conditions, and co-occurring mental health needs. We are familiar with the specific challenges veterans face in recovery and provide structured, evidence-based care that meets established clinical and administrative standards. Also an important thing to note; 2 of our primary counselors are veterans themselves and served.

Integrated Addiction and Mental Health Care for Veterans
Many veterans struggle with substance use linked to PTSD, chronic pain, and other service-related conditions. Effective recovery requires coordinated medical and psychological care.
Siam Rehab provides supervised detox, trauma-focused therapy, medication management, and relapse-prevention tailored to veterans living abroad.
Common Substance Use and Mental Health Conditions Among Veterans
These four conditions are among the most prevalent contributors to substance use and relapse in U.S. veterans. Alcohol often becomes a primary coping strategy in response to service-related trauma, injury, or chronic pain, creating a cycle that reinforces dependence.
Siam Rehab provides evidence-based treatment for these and other substance use disorders, including conditions not listed here. If your specific issue is not shown, we are confident that our clinical team can assess your needs and provide appropriate care.
Veteran-specific needs add another layer of complexity to treatment decisions. Rather than relying on labels or promises, many families turn to a structured framework for evaluating treatment environments and support systems to guide their choice.

Our clinical model emphasizes routine, behavioral recovery, and measurable progress, supported by a multidisciplinary team with extensive experience in dual diagnosis care.

Recovery does not end at discharge. We provide structured aftercare and ongoing support to help maintain gains over time and reduce risk of relapse during reintegration. This “whole-journey” approach is a defining feature of our clinical model and a key contributor to long-term outcomes.
Note: veteran-specific needs are best understood in the context of a structured approach to evaluating treatment environments and support systems.

Our team handles all necessary documentation and claim submission on your behalf, so eligible veterans can receive treatment without worrying about payment processing.

The standard program lasts three to six months. Detox is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Some veterans require a short hospital-based detox prior to entering residential care, while others are stable enough to begin treatment immediately.
