Benzodiazepines Xanax Rehab

There are a considerable number of benzodiazepines on the market theses days, so many in fact that it is hard to keep up with all of the names and we are regularly caught out when talking to someone since we don’t know the specific brand names in all parts of the world, we know most of the generic names but even there it is believed there are over 2000 different benzos which are each marketed under multiple labels and names. What we do regularly get called and asked about however is Xanax Rehab and people wanting to safely detox off Alprazolam, which is the generic name for Xanax. There are risks involved with Xanax Rehab and Detox since it is very highly addictive and can cause sever withdrawal symptoms including death. You should never detox from Xanax or any other benzodiazepine without speaking to a doctor first.

Xanax Rehab, What Happens

At Siam Rehab the doctor and yourself  will decide the best tapering and medication regiment for you.

Mainly in Thailand if you are trying to detox off of Xanax you will be weaned down as much as possible then switched to a longer acting benzo such as Valium (Diazepam) or Librium (Chlordiazepoxide). What this will do, under the doctors supervision, is allow your body to get use to lower and lower doses of the drug in a safe and controlled manner.

It is universally agreed through the rehab and medical community that people should never go cold turkey off of Benzodiazepines. It is not safe to do so and as said, the potential repercussions are sever with even the possibility of death. At Siam Rehab we are willing to take clients for Xanax rehab on a case by case basis, which will be overseen by our addiction psychiatrist, however in extreme cases we will insist that people with exceptionally high dosage or other medical conditions first do a hospitalized Xanax detox.

Special Considerations on Benzodiazepine Rehab

With the exception of the Benzo Detox itself a rehab program for a person suffering form Benzo Addiction is not really any different then someone suffering form other drugs or alcohol, with the exception that your detox could be considerably longer depending on your usage and how you react to the lower dosage of the Xanax or other substitute. Where in most cases people come to us clean already or only need a few days worth of drugs for their detox, benzo’s could go weeks or months on a tapering regime. I am going to say this over and over here, under the supervision of the doctor! The main consideration for benzo rehab is the length of time you will need to be in rehab, if you have been using a high dosage or for an extended period of time it could take a while.

You will also need to consider why you were put on the medication in the first place, if it was for trauma or anxiety it is possible that the symptoms could return once coming off of the drug and that is something that will need to be addressed as well.

Length of Time For Benzo Rehab

The minimum length of time we would recommend for a Xanax rehab would be 4 weeks if you are on a lower dosage or have been weaning yourself off for a period or time,(Under the Supervision of your Doctor), However if you are on a higher dosage or have been using for an extended period of time we would  recommend 3 months or more so you can leave clean and healthy with the tools in place to be sure you stay in recovery and off the medication permanently. Speaking with many experts over the years who claim that the withdrawal symptoms in people coming off of benzos are a minimum of 3 months after tapering off and can last longer if you do quit cold turkey.

Why Come to Thailand for Benzo Rehab?

Coming to Thailand for a Benzodiazepine rehab might seem a bit extreme, however you won’t be the first and many people have done it before you. At Siam Rehab Thailand we will work with you and our doctor to make sure your detox is safe and as comfortable as possible. You will probably not need to be admitted to the hospital and can go through your Xanax Rehab in a comfortable setting while also dealing with the issues and reasons for you starting to use or abuse the drugs in the first place. There is very little point doing a Xanax Detox and not addressing the issue for starting on the medication in the first place as the likely hood of relapse without an addiction rehabilitation program during and immediately after detox is extremely high.

If you are using Xanax or another benzodiazepine and want to stop, give us a call, we can help.
