Many people coming into treatment, after years of alcohol or drug abuse, find themselves physically worn out as they have neglected the important aspects of their physical well-being. No matter what your drug or substance of choice might have been, your body has suffered some sort of damage from years of substance abuse. There is indeed a reason that it is labeled as addiction recovery – it is because your spirit, mind and body all have healing to do. At Siam, we firmly believe that having a healthy outlet for relieving stress is crucial in addiction recovery. Exercise is one of the healthiest, most rewarding forms of stress relief a recovering addict can get.

 

Importance of Fitness

Research continues to show that regular exercise may also help reduce addiction-related withdrawal symptoms and lessen cravings due to the endorphins which are released during training. Siam Rehab offers a diverse variety of fitness options for our clients.

Our beautiful basketball court is often used by many of our clients to relieve stress after a day of intensive therapy. Our unique cross-fit, obstacle course is beautifully nestled at the foot of one of the many beautiful mountains and offers clients a great opportunity to really get “down and dirty”. We also have an incredibly magnificent forest walk / running trail which is often used by our clients, just as the sun starts to welcome in a new day. The fully kitted, air-conditioned gym is a firm favorite for all of our clients and is used on a daily basis. We also offer swimming aerobics, weekly hiking excursions to local waterfalls, badminton, volley-ball and a weekly supervised trip to a gym in the local small town of Mae Chan.

In addition to the above, Siam also offers Muay Thai Boxing and we proudly boast our very own Siam Rehab branded Muay Thai boxing ring. More can be read about our Muay Thai Boxing on our homepage.

Our entire fitness programme is lead by Santi Charoenwong. Santi spent several years in Australia training and becoming certified as a fitness trainer and registered exercise professional. He has first aid training as well as physical therapy/rehabilitation training and master-class credentials. Santi has experience and expertise in boot-camp and outdoor group motivation and training. He also has extensive training in traditional Thai medicine and Thai massage, as well as Western-style Trigger Point Therapy.
